I live and work in Ester, Alaska. I have been creating encaustic work for almost 20 years.

With the influence of the surrounding landscape and its natural wonder and beauty I encounter animals of all sorts, but have been fascinated by the porcupine. It's a simple creature. But it's quills can be both beautiful and dangerous. They have been a central material in my work. The variety of size and color in these barbed objects lend them perfectly as marks, suitable for my markmaking style.

The direction of my work will always include an exploration of materials, the roots of my personal ideology and family and contemplation about the world around me.
